GlobeSherpa is a software company that specializes in mobile applications for the iPhone and other platforms which combine location based services, social networking, and rich media content.

Our mobile ticketing application TransitSherpa lets you pay for public transit using your smartphone.  It provides real-time location of buses and light rail, includes a trip-planner, and offers alerts about service disruptions, transit promotions and events.  Users pre-pay a set amount for transit tickets, and launch the application when they get on the bus or encounter a fare inspector on lightrail.  Their iPhone, Blackberry, or other smartphone screen displays their ticket for drivers or fare inspectors to authenticate using a unique combination of colors, symbols, numbers, and animation that protect against replication or theft.  Appropriate fares are deducted from a user’s account balance when they initiate a “ride.”

For transit users and commuters

TransitSherpa offers an easy and intuitive program to hop on and off public transit anytime, no matter how much change is in their pockets.  It helps users plan their trips and pay for transit with secure one-time credit or debit card payments.  It also keeps them up to date on any service disruptions, transit news, and promotions; and keeps track of the amount of CO2 they save by using transit.

For transit operators and municipalities

TransitSherpa provides a valuable service to their riders, delivers lower maintenance costs, increased patronage, reduced fare evasion, and increased financial float (as a result of patrons pre-purchasing tickets and passes in advance of their journey).  TransitSherpa requires little to no capital expenditures in new technology or equipment at a time when many city budgets are strapped for cash.  The application includes a cloud based back-end software platform, called TOMS ™ – Ticket Operations Management System.  TOMS lets transit operators track rider use and commuting trends, verify payments, and send alerts about service disruptions and other important notices via text message to TransitSherpa users.  Upon download, the application will also prompt users to complete a short survey on their ridership to help improve transit operators’ understanding of their customers.
