Senior Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to help us build our internal and external web-based applications.

Skills:

          • Strong Javascript knowledge
          • Prototype inheritance, closures, common data structures; functional programming a plus

          • Knowledgeable of common design patterns
          • Command prompt, unix tools, build tools
          • Experience with agile development methodologies and processes
          • Experience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA is a bonus
          • Experience leading technical teams is a plus

This position reports directly to the Company’s CTO. The job is based at the Company’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon.

Technical Project Manager

Overview

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to assist in the creation and development of technical requirements, process flows, architectural documents, and other project management tools to aid in the deployment of the Company’s technologies.

The Technical Project Manager will work closely with GlobeSherpa’s clients and its internal Development team to capture technical requirements and document process flow to inform product development. The position requires strong analysis and problem-solving capabilities, and a fundamental understanding of information technologies. This position demands an attention to detail, a passion to drive projects to deliver with results. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentations skills are imperative. Being a team player is a must.

Primary Job Duties:

        • Working with our business team and technical leads to create business plans and requirements specifications for complex software applications, modules, or systems. Must be able to understand subject matter experts and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
        • Creating, maintaining and enforcing project plans to support development and integration projects, coordinating, prioritizing multiple projects, generating project status reports to Management. Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project is a must.
        • Organizing and leading the identification of functional tasks, project milestones, and assigned tasks for people across multiple organizations.
        • Setting up and chairing meetings, driving tasks and documenting project status and activities using project techniques and best practices.
        • Communicating with personnel and personalities across different disciplines and at different management levels within the Company. Work in both a team environment and independently, juggling multiple projects and priorities.

Qualifications / Requirements:

          • 5+ years of extensive experience in project management of large and complex full IT systems development life cycle.
          • Strong working knowledge and practical experience in internet technologies, including JavaScript, MySQL, PHP, Mongo DB, NodeJS, and HTML5. Hands-on experience working with Content Management Systems, Configuration (Change) Management, version control, software release management and related technologies are a major plus.
          • A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, analysis and design, development tools, version control, testing and QA, and deployment) and software methodologies.
          • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills. Must be self-motivated, highly focused, and able to work independently.
          • Ability to thrive in a changing environment. Ability to work multiple projects with multiple priorities.
          • Technical skills include 3+ years of hands-on application design and coding experience in all phases of the software product development lifecycle in multiple programming platforms. Experience with AGILE software development methodology.
          • PMP certification preferred.

This position reports directly to the Company’s Executive Vice President. The job is based at the Company’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon.

Mobile Applications Engineer

Wireless Technologies Engineer

Overview
GlobeSherpa is a software company based in Portland, OR that provides a mobile ticketing platform for smartphones that lets you buy and use your public transit pass from your phone – no more ticket machine needed. Our technology helps transit authorities connect with their riders, reduce operations costs, and grow into the digital age.

We are hiring a Wireless Technologies Engineer to assist in the development and innovation of cutting edge mobile solutions and technologies that utilize a variety of wireless protocols such as NFC and BLE. This position will interface directly with the company’s core Engineering Team supporting development of new technologies and will report directly to the Lead Developer.

Wireless technologies is an umbrella term encompassing a variety of technologies that enable communications between mobile devices. Included is Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth Classic, Near-Field Communications, Radio Frequency Identification, TCP/IP and Sockets/WebSockets, etc. Experience with all of these technologies is not required, but a passion for the world of inter-device communications is a must.

Who We Are Looking For:

        • Strong knowledge of one wireless communication stack

        • Experience with either iOS or Android hardware APIs

Key Responsibilities:
The Wireless Technologies Engineer will be responsible for developing forward-looking wireless technologies across a number of devices. This position will work closely with GlobeSherpa’s mobile engineering team for client consumption of wireless technologies as well as interface directly with future hardware suppliers of wireless components such as iBeacons and/or NFC readers. Rapid prototyping of new systems and engineering solutions that allow for easy cross-platform implementation is the primary goal of the Wireless Technologies Engineer. There will most likely be some interaction with OEM’s that provide readers in various systems, and integration point engineering as well.
