Technical Project Manager

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to assist in the creation and development of technical requirements, process flows, architectural documents, and other project management tools to aid in the deployment of the Company’s technologies.

The Technical Project Manager will work closely with GlobeSherpa’s clients and its internal Development team to capture technical requirements and document process flow to inform product development. The position requires strong analysis and problem-solving capabilities, and a fundamental understanding of information technologies. This position demands an attention to detail, a passion to drive projects to deliver with results. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentations skills are imperative. Being a team player is a must.

Primary Job Duties:

        • Working with our business team and technical leads to create business plans and requirements specifications for complex software applications, modules, or systems. Must be able to understand subject matter experts and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
        • Creating, maintaining and enforcing project plans to support development and integration projects, coordinating, prioritizing multiple projects, generating project status reports to Management. Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project is a must.
        • Organizing and leading the identification of functional tasks, project milestones, and assigned tasks for people across multiple organizations.
        • Setting up and chairing meetings, driving tasks and documenting project status and activities using project techniques and best practices.
        • Communicating with personnel and personalities across different disciplines and at different management levels within the Company. Work in both a team environment and independently, juggling multiple projects and priorities.

Qualifications / Requirements:

          • 5+ years of extensive experience in project management of large and complex full IT systems development life cycle.
          • Strong working knowledge and practical experience in internet technologies, including JavaScript, MySQL, PHP, Mongo DB, NodeJS, and HTML5. Hands-on experience working with Content Management Systems, Configuration (Change) Management, version control, software release management and related technologies are a major plus.
          • A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, analysis and design, development tools, version control, testing and QA, and deployment) and software methodologies.
          • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills. Must be self-motivated, highly focused, and able to work independently.
          • Ability to thrive in a changing environment. Ability to work multiple projects with multiple priorities.
          • Technical skills include 3+ years of hands-on application design and coding experience in all phases of the software product development lifecycle in multiple programming platforms. Experience with AGILE software development methodology.
          • PMP certification preferred.

This position reports directly to the Company’s Executive Vice President. The job is based at the Company’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon.

Senior Mobile Developer

      This senior position is hands-on you’ll be defining everything from the architecture, APIs, enabling user experiences throughout the life cycle of the applications. Working knowledge of application frameworks, wireless-networking specifications such as Bluetooth, BLE, and NFC are strongly desired. Deep experience with Objective C, C++/C and Java are required. Experience with Titanium, AWS, and cloud services would be preferred.

      You’ll perform roles of architect and developer: rapidly translate product requirements to application level architecture, add detailed designs to architecture plan, design and document API level specifications and data models, optimize mobile solutions for security, performance and application scalability, and collaborate with other architects and developers to ensure the coherence of our software app strategies across multiple products for various agencies.

      You will be responsible for implementing new features in existing mobile applications and developing new mobile applications from top to bottom (user interface design, application design, implementation, unit and functional testing, deployment to customers).

Minimum Skills and Experience Required:

        • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related fields.
        • 12+ years of experience in a technical role.
        • 6 years experience with creation and maintenance of the overall mobile application architecture for iOS and/or Android devices .
        • 6 years experience in an object oriented programming language.
        • 4 years experience mobile OS development cycle: scoping, planning, design, implementation, deployment and maintenance.
        • 4 years experience in iOS application functionality and limitations including Objective C, Cocoa Framework, Core data and other native API integration.
        • 4 years experience in xCode, Visual Studio, Eclipse IDE or equivalent.
        • 2 years experience with mobile application styles, coding standards, Apple’s Human Interface guidelines, and Google’s User Interface guidelines.
        • 2 years experience with Security APIs and iOS/Android security features.
        • 2 years experience of unit testing, automated testing and debugging of mobile apps.

Tool Set:

          • Experience with development tools: Bitbucket, continuous integration, dependency management, Atlassian Tool Set.
          • Test driven development.
          • Familiar with Agile Scrum development process.
          • Able to show a portfolio of compelling iOS/Android mobile applications from past projects.
          • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
          • Able to work well individually as well as in a highly collaborative team.
          • Demonstrated interest in learning new technologies .

QA Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for executing black box testing on a number of mobile and web-based projects in cooperation with our senior engineering team members. They will be responsible for designing and executing the company’s Quality Assurance process and will be expected to create test cases and scripts. In this role you will be a significant stakeholder in the release process, prioritizing issues and being involved with decisions on shipping releases.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in computer science, meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills in addition to 5-7 years of experience as a software engineer working in a QA or development role.

Quality Assurance Intern

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Intern to join our development team in Portland, OR. This position has great potential for learning and advancement.

The Quality Assurance Intern will be responsible for executing black box testing on a number of mobile and web-based projects under the guidance of senior engineering team members. They will be trained in the company’s Quality Assurance process and be given opportunities to contribute to the creation of test cases and scripts.

The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Enrollment in a Computer Science, Information System, Web Development or other B.S. program is a plus. Prior quality assurance experience or software development experience is also a plus.

The position is open to part-time/flex-time hours to support school enrollment.
