Senior Engineer

GlobeSherpa is a Portland, Oregon based software company that specializes in making mobile payments easy. We provide a secure, mobile payment and mobile ticketing platform for transit customers interested in moving to open payments, open data, and mobile fare collection with minimal infrastructure investment.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to help us build our internal and external web-based applications.

Skills:

          • Strong Javascript knowledge
          • Prototype inheritance, closures, common data structures; functional programming a plus
          • Experience with Node.js and its commonly used libraries
          • Experience in deploying and supporting enterprise applications
          • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with internal business team, external customers and third-party technical staff
          • Knowledgeable of common design patterns
          • Command prompt, unix tools, build tools
          • Experience with agile development methodologies and processes
          • Experience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA is a bonus
          • Experience leading technical teams is a plus

This position reports directly to the Company’s CTO. The job is based at the Company’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon.

GlobeSherpa’s headquarters are located in Northwest Portland, Oregon, home to a vibrant startup and business community nestled seamlessly within old-Portland retail and residential neighborhoods.

Mobile Applications Engineer

We are looking for a Mobile Applications Engineer to assist in the creation and development of innovative, cutting edge mobile payments and visual authentication technologies.

          • Experience with App analytics platforms i.e. Crittercism, New Relic, and Google Analytics
          • Knowledge of URL schemes and/or activity schemes for linking apps together
          • Experience with TestFlight or Hockey App for deploying pre-production apps
          • A passion for User Experience
          • Knowledge of graphics and animations a plus

Wireless Technologies Engineer

Overview
GlobeSherpa is a software company based in Portland, OR that provides a mobile ticketing platform for smartphones that lets you buy and use your public transit pass from your phone – no more ticket machine needed. Our technology helps transit authorities connect with their riders, reduce operations costs, and grow into the digital age.

We are hiring a Wireless Technologies Engineer to assist in the development and innovation of cutting edge mobile solutions and technologies that utilize a variety of wireless protocols such as NFC and BLE. This position will interface directly with the company’s core Engineering Team supporting development of new technologies and will report directly to the Lead Developer.

Wireless technologies is an umbrella term encompassing a variety of technologies that enable communications between mobile devices. Included is Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth Classic, Near-Field Communications, Radio Frequency Identification, TCP/IP and Sockets/WebSockets, etc. Experience with all of these technologies is not required, but a passion for the world of inter-device communications is a must.

Who We Are Looking For:

        • Strong knowledge of one wireless communication stack
        • Familiarity with JavaScript and Web stack technologies
        • Experience with either iOS or Android hardware APIs
        • Self-starting and motivated learners

Key Responsibilities:
The Wireless Technologies Engineer will be responsible for developing forward-looking wireless technologies across a number of devices. This position will work closely with GlobeSherpa’s mobile engineering team for client consumption of wireless technologies as well as interface directly with future hardware suppliers of wireless components such as iBeacons and/or NFC readers. Rapid prototyping of new systems and engineering solutions that allow for easy cross-platform implementation is the primary goal of the Wireless Technologies Engineer. There will most likely be some interaction with OEM’s that provide readers in various systems, and integration point engineering as well.

DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to help us get code in to production and maintain highly reliable operations. You will help maximize the predictability, efficiency, security and maintainability of our operational environments.
