Business Development Associate

Overview
GlobeSherpa is a software company based in Portland, OR that provides a mobile ticketing platform for smartphones that lets you buy and use your public transit pass from your phone – no more ticket machine needed. Our technology helps transit authorities connect with their riders, reduce operations costs, and grow into the digital age.

We are hiring a Business Development Associate to assist in the development and growth of profitable new business and to develop and maintain key transit agency relationships. This position will interface directly with the Company’s Business Development Team and will report to the Director of Business Development.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have deep sales experience and knowledge of the transit industry. This position requires someone who is capable of building sustained relationships over sales cycles that can last up to a year. We are looking for someone who has is hungry for doing something out of the box. Your ideas and creativity will be our greatest assets. You can drive how we make this happen. We are growing quickly and are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Business Development team in sourcing, managing and implementing new business opportunities with transit authorities – including submitting unsolicited proposals as well as responding to formal solicitations such as Requests for Proposals
  • Ensure efficient and effective marketing, advertising and promotional planning
  • Assist in the formation of a budget for board approval and prudently manage resources within those budgetary guidelines according to company policy and within ethical corporate governance guidelines
  • Manage and maintain Sales and customer pipeline information using a Customer Relationship Management tool
  • Provide ongoing market and competitor analysis to Company management
  • Travel to key customers on a regular basis to meet with staff, make formal presentations, and to provide product demonstrations
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and other gatherings to promote the Company

This position reports directly to the Company’s Director of Business Development. The job is based at the Company’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon but will involve up to 25% travel time.

Compensation

We will provide a competitive salary, benefits, and a performance-driven sales commission and/or profit sharing. We will also award significant equity in the Company in the form of stock options. Engineering Intern

Overview

GlobeSherpa is a software company based in Portland, OR that provides a mobile ticketing platform for smartphones that lets you buy and use your public transit pass from your phone – no more ticket machine needed. Our technology helps transit authorities connect with their riders, reduce operations costs, and grow into the digital age.

We are hiring an Engineering Intern to assist with all aspects of the development process. The EI will assist with our mobile application suite, reporting APIs, content management systems and webservices. The EI will assist our team of developers in delivering great customer service and innovative software solutions. Languages involved are: JavaScript, PHP, HTML, CSS, and others.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and self-reliant. Work experience in software development is not required, but the candidate should have a good understanding of computing as well as knowledge of programming language paradigms. Strong time
management and organization skills are required. We are a fast-paced and innovative team and are looking for enthusiastic people to hop on board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering team with completing tasks and fixing issues.
  • Researching frameworks and CMS modules for accomplishing system goals.
  • Assist with testing of critical systems, both mobile and server based.
  • Documenting code
  • Communicating efectively with the entire GlobeSherpa team.
  • Staying up to date with the latest technologies pertaining to our space.

This position reports directly to the Company’s Chief Technology Officer. The job will be based at our Portland office, with a part-time and flexible schedule of 10-15 hours a week, which may increase when deliverables are due.

Compensation

This internship is unpaid currently, but will include first-class mentoring and a tremendous work environment.
